Transforming My Home into an Ode to Harry Potter

Every Halloween, I transform my home into a little piece of the wizarding world! This year, I expanded the magic by adding Diagon Alley, and I'm sharing the journey from the first pieces of wood to the finished display.

Diagon Alley features Ollivanders Wand Shop, Potage's Cauldron Shop, and Quality Quidditch Supplies. Across the driveway sits Honeydukes, where neighborhood children can play a game before collecting their Halloween candy.

The magic continues throughout the yard! Harry and Ron are caught in the Whomping Willow in their flying car, while the front porch becomes Hogwarts, complete with the Great Hall, Professor McGonagall watching over her Transfiguration class in cat form, and the Triwizard Cup. A dragon with blinking red eyes guards her large golden egg in the yard.

Along the stairs are handmade wood Jack-O'-Lanterns, including Crookshanks and Scabbers. Quidditch hoops and the Golden Snitch stand in front of the porch, while Hogwarts house flags and a directional sign pointing to favorite Harry Potter locations welcome visitors.

There are little surprises tucked throughout the display, too, including memorial stones for Dobby and Sirius Black and a special Owl Post.

For me, Halloween and Harry Potter just belong together. I love creating these projects, adding something new each year, and sharing a little magic, imagination, and joy with my neighborhood.

Made with wood, imagination, and a little bit of magic!
